Aside from his pretty decent impersonation of Moz’s warbly voice, what I love best about this sketch is that SO MANY gals I introduced to MSt3K immediately popped boners for Mike Nelson upon seeing this bit. It’s uncanny.
This wasn’t my first experience with Mike, but it definitely was the first Mike-induced Ladywood I ever got.
I’ve been watching MST3K for seventeen years.
I’ve seen this opening sequence Zeus-knows-how-many-times.
Today, watching episode 212, Godzilla vs. Megalon, with my son, he noticed something about Joel here that I never have.
“If he’s writing on that pad, why is the cap still on the marker?”
I rewound it. The kid’s right. Joel pretends to scribble. The cap is on. My mind is blown.

Authormichals keeps texting me to ask whether I prefer Joel or Mike and, after a lengthy debate, I texted back “Moel,” because I really can’t decide. They both have good qualities. I guess it depends on my mood. How am I supposed to choose?
